Hello!

My name is Maria Jimenez, and I am a transfer student from Cuyamaca College. I’ve also taken classes at Grossmont, City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges. I’m 30 years old and a mother of two—a 2-year-old and a 10-year-old. I worked as a bus driver for the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System since 2017, but I recently left to pursue my dream of becoming a full-time student at UCSD, where I’m majoring in Mathematics. I love the challenge that math presents and aspire to become a community college math professor.

I’m a lifelong San Diegan, primarily living in the central region of the city. In my free time, I enjoy trying new foods, crocheting, and spending time with my children. I'm both nervous and excited to start this new chapter in my education, but I'm looking forward to the journey. I’m excited to be part of an organization where I can connect with others and not feel so alone among the more 'traditional' students.
